Why can't we just have good things and collect more good things to add to the previous assortment of good things instead of constantly having those newer good things appear as replacements for the original good things which we have since lost?

Many people see the event that is the Taste of Chicago as a good opportunity to advertise (aka "solicit"). While leaving the grounds yesterday I encountered a man distributing pamphlets about vegetarians eating meat, a woman trying to convince people that they needed a subscription to the Sun Times, and several Amish people handing out free CDs.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Amish.
